Celebrating 18 years of g-oz!

October 12, 2025 marks 18 years of g-oz supporting and advocating for the education, empowerment and success of girls and young women in remote Australia.

By the end of our 18th year, we will have successfully delivered:

178 Community Programs
22 Travel Programs
4 Reverse Travel Programs

Our positive, impactful work has reached over 3000 girls across remote Australia, providing them with access to reliable, high-quality performing arts education and mentoring opportunities that would have otherwise remained out of reach.

“It takes a village to raise a child – as Girls from Oz turns 18, it’s timely to reflect on the wonderful community that has enabled our organisational growth and development. In the beginning it was a small handful of women who were dreaming this up, creating structure to support it and learning all the things we learn in infancy. I can see myself standing in Halls Creek in 2009 with Kylie Lee-Archer, our General Manger, talking about the possibilities with community members. We’d tried a few different things in the first two years and by this time we were optimistic though also just a little bit naïve as we described our ideas and how we’d bring them to life. Year on year, the village has expanded to include regular donors, new young Instructors, host families for Travel Program participants and of course the gradual deepening of relationships with community members and school leaders. Kylie and I remain optimistic, committed and full of ideas and we’re immensely grateful to have this incredible village of people who contribute experience, practical assistance, and of course financial and moral support. Thank you for being part of this beautiful, music filled village!”
