2025 Term 3 g-oz Community Program News
From the far north of Cape York to the heart of the Kimberley, we are so excited to share what we’ve been up to in this second half of the year!
Lockhart River
We started Term 3 at Lockhart State School where we were thrilled to see so many students enthusiastically join in on activities throughout the program. Lots of smiles, laughs, big voices and confident stances – what a week!
“The joy in our g-oz sessions in Lockhart River was infectious. Seeing the girls’ confidence grow over the week and ending on a high with a performance at Parade was so special.” – Caitlin, g-oz Term 3 Instructor
One of the highlights of the school ‘Parade’ assembly was definitely the ‘Thank You for Being a Friend’ dance routine, which participants had been rehearsing all week before confidently performing it in front of their peers. Congratulations on a wonderful performance, everyone!
Kowanyama
Participation was high this term at Kowanyama State School! We loved seeing each and every student having a go and giving it their best in g-oz classes.
Term 3 g-oz Instructor, Greta, reflects on the exciting week full to the brim of music, song and dance:
“It was such a joy to wrap up our time for Term 3 singing ‘True Colours’ at Parade with all of the students from Prep to Grade 6! We can’t wait to come back for more singing and dancing in Term 4. ‘Welcome to Music‘ in our junior sessions was filled with so much enthusiasm and energy! Another fun highlight of the week was playing ‘Four Corners’ with the seniors.”
Bidayadanga
This year, our Term 3 Bidyadanga program coincided with Indigenous Literacy Day!
In celebration of the day, La Grange Remote Community School g-oz participants sang ‘Country Tells Us When…’ in a mix of English and Karajarri at school assembly on 3 September in support of The Indigenous Literacy Foundation‘s annual fundraiser, ‘Busking For Change’.
“Country Tells Us When… is a book written by Community from Cable Beach Primary School and published by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation in 2023. The story of Country Tells Us When… has been adapted into a joyful song about the seasonal changes of the Kimberley by ILF Ambassadors Josh Pyke, Justine Clarke, Dobby and Tehya Makani.” – The Indigenous Literacy Foundation

Halls Creek
Halls Creek District High School students brought so much energy and enthusiasm to g-oz classes this term!
A highlight from the week was their own end-of-week performance of ‘Country Tells Us When…’ in support of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. 50 students from Grade 1 to Grade 9 came together to perform at HCDHS’s Community Assembly that celebrated the students’ academic success and participation throughout Term 3.
