October 12th 2024 marks 17 years of g-oz supporting and advocating for the education, empowerment and success of girls and young women in remote Australia.
Happy Birthday, Girls from Oz!
In 17 years we have so far successfully delivered:
- 184 Community Programs
- 20 Travel Programs
- 3 Reverse Travel Programs
Our positive, impactful work has seen over 4000 girls provided with the opportunity to engage in performing arts education and mentoring opportunities with the benefits of this engagement rippling out from individual into community as well as from the classroom into the playground and beyond!
‘When Girls from Oz Founders started shaping this, now 17 year old, organisation, we had no concept of just how many lives would be positively impacted by our dreams and ideas. We knew that we wanted to provide life changing opportunities to girls who couldn’t otherwise access high quality performing arts education, what we now celebrate is something much more nuanced and far reaching. The girls and young women from remote communities are the most important part of the story but there are now so many other people who’ve benefited from the opportunity to learn, teach, host, perform, travel and deeply connect. We are grateful to every supporter who helped us to get here, every parent from a remote community who allowed their daughter to travel to a capital city, every AGC host family who welcomed girls into their homes, and every team member who chose to take time from their busy lives to travel long distances and share their passion for song, dance, education and personal growth.’
