Patron (2014 - 2025)
Quentin Bryce was born in Brisbane in 1942 and spent her early years in Ilfracombe, a small town in Central Western Queensland. In 1965, she graduated with the degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from The University of Queensland and, in the same year, was admitted to the Queensland Bar. She has since enjoyed a rich and distinguished career as an academic, lawyer, community and human rights advocate, senior public officer, university college principal, and vice-regal representative in Queensland, and now Australia.
Since g-oz was formed in 2007, we have been privileged to have a close relationship with The Honourable Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO. Our relationship began when Ms Bryce was Governor of Queensland and her support of g-oz has been wide ranging since then; including a visit to Halls Creek, attending numerous events and hosting a sleep-over for girls from Halls Creek at Admiralty House on two occasions.
On behalf of the Girls from Oz Board, staff, supporters, and the thousands of girls whose lives have flourished through g-oz programs, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO.
As her patronage comes to an end, her legacy lives on in the confidence and voices of the girls she has championed; and in Girls from Oz’s continued commitment to creating pathways for girls in remote Australia to thrive through the performing arts.
