A Trip to Perth

What a wonderful time our ten girls from Carnarvon Community College and eight girls from Halls Creek District High School had in Perth last week.

After a few flight delays, 18 Girls from Oz girls and 24 Australian Girls Choir Performing Choir choristers from Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide arrived in Perth last Tuesday for a week of workshops, performances and activities.

A key aspect of the g-oz travel program is the opportunity for the girls to meet, and be hosted by, Australian Girls Choir families and we're very grateful to the families who welcomed our girls into their homes.

We can only imagine how Hana, Paige, Gerry, Kelly, Jasmine, Simone, Jamie, Bella, Sharelle and Cori from Carnarvon and Koda, Summer, Sherose, Charlotte, Nikki, Trisher, Angie and Khailey from Halls Creek would have felt on Monday night after a week of activities, which included:
• A dance workshop with Ochre Contemporary Dance Company
• A performance for, and morning tea with, Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AO at Government House
• A workshop with, and a performance for, Yule Brook College
• AIME mentoring session at The University of Notre Dame
• A public performance at Central Park
• A performance for, and afternoon tea with, hosts from Deloitte
• Involvement in a show that featured a3 – Australian Arts Alive participants
• Performing with the Australian Girls Choir at the Perth Concert Hall.

One of the highlights of the trip would have to have been the girls' performance with the Australian Girls Choir at Perth Concert Hall. Words cannot express how proud we are of all 18 girls, their rendition of 'Read All About It' moved many audience members to tears.

The g-oz team look forward to seeing what these girls can achieve next year and beyond as they continue to build their confidence and performance ability
